This part focusses on Flemish growth sectors from an international perspective by looking into three macro-economic variables: value added, employment and labor productivity. Making use of regional Eurostat data from 2016-2020, results show that (i) Flanders is one of the most productive regions in Europe, (ii) productivity growth is lagging behind, (iii) Flanders is more specialised in Construction and Professional Services, (iv) Information & Communication is a strong international growth sector in terms of value added and (v) Flanders is in the top of R&D intensity.
